Nurturing a Faith-Based Culture in a Shifting Spiritual Care Landscape

Our faith-based human service organizations minister to clients and staff across a wide continuum of spiritual awareness. From older adults with deeply held religious beliefs, to individuals with minimal understanding of God’s promise of unconditional love, acceptance, and forgiveness, navigating the needs of these varying populations is an ongoing challenge for the spiritual care community.

Join us for our first UMA Spiritual Care Network call of 2023 led by Pastor Sam Marchetta, Director of Pastoral Care, Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, Meadville PA. As demographics continue to shift with the clients we serve, and among the staff within our organizations, Pastor Sam will lead a candid conversation to discuss the challenges faced by spiritual care providers. Chaplains play a vital role in nurturing the culture of our faith-based ministries. Join this conversation to explore new ways to make spiritual connections. This will be a great opportunity to learn from each other and establish new relationships with peers across the UMA network.

Sam Marchetta has been with Wesbury for the last ten years. His career includes service as the Spiritual Care Coordinator/Bereavement Coordinator at Heartland Hospice in Hermitage, PA; Lead Pastor at the Ridgewood Assembly of God Church in Pittsburgh, PA; and Director of Student Ministries at South Hills Assembly of God in Bethel Park, PA. Sam received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Bible College in Springfield, MO and his Master of Arts from St. Bonaventure University in St. Bonaventure, NY. With a broad range of ministry experience, Sam feels a strong connection to seniors and a passion to ensure their stories are heard, their dignity conserved and their contributions valued.

Network participation is limited to UMA member organizations.
