Joint Accreditation

If you are also accredited by CARF-CCAC or COA, our cooperative approach was designed for you!

The EAGLE process has earned the appreciation and respect of other national accreditation programs. This enabled the EAGLE Commission to establish cooperative agreements with the Council on Accreditation of Services to Families and Children (COA), the Council on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Services (CARF), and the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC), which merged in 2003 to form CARF-CCAC.

The existence of such cooperative agreements permits organizations the opportunity to pursue simultaneous accreditations. While continuing to function independently, these accrediting bodies have agreed to implement a cooperative process that permits each accrediting body to support and rely upon the other, while each remains independent and autonomous in its private deliberations and final accreditation determination.

A cooperative process applicant organization must meet all CARF-CCAC or COA conditions of eligibility, as well as EAGLE eligibility criteria. To eliminate duplication under a concurrent review, EAGLE only covers those topics that are either not addressed or are not sufficiently addressed by the other organization’s accreditation standards.

In order to apply for joint EAGLE accreditation, the organization must be in good standing with the joint accrediting body. The EAGLE Commission’s decision to accredit is contingent upon the applying organization receiving full accreditation from the other program.
